Asides from Architecture, from time to time we will explore the making of smaller objects, testing materiality and methods of making. This is a small collection of some of these projects.
With a strong interest in the development of architectural concepts, theory and representation, this is an (ongoing) collection of works and representational methods developed by Studio Embla.
Aside from a delight taken in the creation of space, we explore other ways to create complexity, exploration and elements of surprise in form and texture. This is a collection of an ongoing series of drawn works using pen and pencil.
We are currently engaged in a number of projects of different scales, some of which are in collaboration with another Copenhagen based practice, dNTE arkitekter. This is a collection of illustrations, describing some of the ongoing works.
Studio Embla is an architectural practice based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Studio Embla is named after the first woman in Nordic mythology, Embla, carved by the gods from a piece of driftwood found on the seashore. Firmly rooted in both craftsmanship and design, we draw and build, from object to inhabited space, with a respect and understanding of materiality as the starting point, and with functionality and beauty as the ultimate product.
