Villa re-connection

A unique villa north of Copenhagen underwent a substantial renovation in collaboration with dNTE Arkitekter. A central part of the project was to find the new form and design language for the internal staircases. In the entrance, a tall but slim rectangular space, we used a simple extrusion to create a sculptural form in natural materials. The carved oaken handrail is the continuous line that underlines the height of the space and connects ground to 1st floor. In the kitchen, placed in a former atelier, we combined the need for storage in two symmetrical oaken furniture pieces, within which the staircase to the activated basement floor is integrated.
